Day 48: She's Found Her Voice

Since day one I think Chase has been talking.  He is so verbal with all different kinds of sounds and loud too (hmmm...I wonder where he got that from?)  but Zaya has always been so quiet just making a peep here and there.  Not this week though she has found her voice.  She's Ms. Talky Talkerson in true girl fashion.  Her talking is so funny too, it's like this long drawn out sound.  Sometimes it sounds as if she's yelling at you.  It's really funny!  Chase when he talks sometimes it's like a whisper like he has a secret for you, but not Zaya she has an announcement to make and the world will hear it.  She is no longer taking a back seat to her brother she is standing up for her right to be heard and I love it!  I could talk all day to them...oh wait...I do.

Today I'm grateful Zaya found her voice.

Day 47: Only a Cold

Last week both of the babies got sick for the first time, nothing like putting a first time mom over the edge. I took Zaya's temperature and found out it was a little high and immediately fumbled around searching for my phone to call the pediatrician. I didn't know what to do. My baby was sick and I was heart sick for her. The pediatrician asked, "Did you give any Tylenol?" I said, "no, I called you!" I think I heard her giggle then in a very calm voice she instructed me to give her Tylenol and watch the fever. I watched it alright. Zaya didn't leave my arms all night. 2 days later Chase started coughing a horrible sounding cough. This put me over the edge so I took them in to make sure everything was alright. It was and it is. It's just a cold. I watched my babies suffer from this stupid cold all week coughing, not being able to breath, having to take medicine and get squirts up their nose. It's a horrible thing for mom's heart to see her babies suffer. I couldn't imagine if it was something worse then a cold.

Today I'm grateful it's only cold.

She's even cute with a snotty nose!

Day 46: Family Fun Day

Today was just what I needed a Family Fun Day.  Bracken Engineering, the company my husband works for, took all of the employees out for a Family Fun Day to Grand Prix and it came just in the knick of time.  I was just feeling as though I might go crazy if I have to go one more day without some fresh air and adult interaction and this was perfect.  A little mini golf, great lunch, go carts, happy babies and video games to make this mom feel like a kid again.  It was great!

Today I'm grateful for Bracken Engineering and Family Fun Day!

I golfed with a baby in my hands and one time I got a hole in one!  I think I might be mistaken for SuperMom!

Day 45: Easter

Easter was a beautiful spring day filled with great celebration. It's one of the most beautiful days of the year as we celebrate the day Jesus broke the back of the Devil and took the sting out of death. A day of Victory at its best!!! I love Easter! I love dressing up, seeing the little girls in their beautiful poufy dresses and white patent leather shoes and the boys in their ties. I love going to church and singing my loudest because I know Jesus wins and I win because Jesus won. He conquered the grave! I take myself back to that day and put myself in the place of the people. Who would I have been? Would I have been the doubting Thomas? Or Mary who was surprised to find out it wasn't the gardener? Or Peter who ran to tell everyone? I don't know who I would have been that day but I know this, I would have been stopped in my tracks and left standing in awe. I serve a great God who sent his only son to die on a cross and conquer the grave for me and for you.

Easter meant something different this year, Good Friday meant something different this year as I was able to walk in the shoes of a parents love for the first time. He gave His only son. The love I feel for my children is overwhelming at times especially when I feel they are in danger. A pure love of great protection rises up in me and I believe I would do anything to keep them from harm. I'm sure God wanted to protect Jesus that day. I'm sure the desire was so great that He could barely stand it, but he chose to let Him die for us. I stand in awe today! I have been wiped clean of my sin, covered in unconditional love, accepted and engrafted into the family of God because He chose to let His son die for me. I have been given an inheritance in Christ Jesus and the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in me. I am more than a conqueror! I am redeemed!

Today I'm grateful My Redeemer Lives!!!

I loved dressing up for Easter when I was little.  So you know I will love dressing my kids up for Easter.

Zaya loved her dress so much she wanted to eat it.

Sorry for the lack of Easter pictures, to be honest we dressed Zaya and Chase up and took them outside for pictures the day before Easter and none of them turned out.  I'm so sad about it, but I will dress them up and try again.  Don't worry I will share when I get some.

Day 44: Jumping Back On

I have briefly fallen off my blog wagon, but don't worry I'm jumping back on today with vengeance. I have a goal to do this for 365 days and I will prevail. It's getting harder though. How hard it is becoming isn't the reason for the fall though, life just got crazy for a minute, don't worry you will read all about it. Thanks to those of you who are following and still encouraging me to keep going. I appreciate you.

I have felt the days without the reminder to be grateful for the things that the Lord has given me and they haven't really been great days. I suppose that's why it's getting harder. I want to be a person who sees the blessing in every moment and can enjoy it, fully be in it and not take it for granted. The Lord has blessed me with so many things and I want to be grateful for each and every one of them.

Today I'm grateful I can see the blessings again.

Day 43: Sleepovers with My Husband

Don't worry this post is rated PG.  I titled it this because this is the way I feel lately when the babies finally go down to sleep it's our time.  I love it!  My husband and I cuddle up on the couch, watch some TV, talk about our days, maybe eat some junk food and laugh a lot.  I guess I never realized before how much I treasure my time with him.  I guess I took it for granted before we had babies.  Now I know to value every moment with him and enjoy even simple sleepovers at home.

Today I'm grateful for sleepovers with my husband.

Day 42: Two

I made up this song that I sing around the house whenever I am doing anything with both of the babies like holding them both, playing with them both or trying to console them both. It goes like this...

I've got two babies
Instead of just one
I've got two babies
and it's twice the fun

They really are so much fun! Every day they are learning new things and smiling more and interacting more. Every day it gets more fun than the last. I truly mean that, but there are some days when you feel...TWO! Today was one of those days. I woke up this morning and Chase woke up just after me so I grabbed him up, but he was being pretty vocal and I didn't want him to wake Zaya so I grabbed a diaper quick and headed out the door. I set Chase up on the couch took off his old diaper and as I was grabbing for the new diaper he decided to give Mommy a morning shower. So funny!!! I cleaned it all up and him all up then Zaya woke up so I grabbed her up and took her to the changing table got the old diaper off and as I was grabbing for the new diaper she also decided it was a good time to let it all out. All I could do was laugh. That pretty much set the tone for the day. When one would fall asleep the other would wake up, when I almost had one asleep the other would start fussing, when I cleaned one dirty diaper I cleaned another, when one would start fussing the other started right behind, one went down for their nap late the other woke up from their nap early. Today I felt the two. One thing I can say about having two is it is more fun because you feel like you’re going crazy sometimes so you just have to laugh. Today I laughed a lot. Sometimes I feel twice the work, but all the time I feel twice the love. Those two smiling, happy babies make it worth it!

Today I'm grateful I have two!
